With many of our kids going back to school this week (or even already back to school already), it is always a very stressful time of the year for parents. However, if you are the parent of a child with food allergies then you know the level of stress can be compounded many times higher than normal. There are so many considerations and things to worry about as you send your child to school: new teachers, new classrooms, new faculty or even a different school.
To help you with your preparation for the school year, we have posted a few good resources to help you build a solid plan for your child (and your family) as the school year begins. Please share with us which of these resources you find useful (or if you have any other guides that you feel should be mentioned:)
It is also worth noting that the Better Parents of Children with Food Allergies Support Group will be meeting next week on Wednesday, September 15 at 6:30 pm. Our topic this week will be an open discussion on what parents need to know as they send their children back to school.
If you are sending your child to school for the first time with food allergies or this is another year of experience for you, we would love for you to attend our group and share with other parents that are challenged daily with food allergy problems and solutions. It is amazing what a support group can do for a parent.
